The Six Essentials of Life
The Six Essentials of Life
By Jewa Lea, DC
Are you living well? Is your family? Do you wake up energized and ready for a new day? Your answers to these questions could very well depend on how well you are utilizing the “Six Essentials of Life.”
1. What you Eat.
Alkaline ash producing foods – fruits and vegetables - are your friends. Your diet should consist of 75% of a variety of vegetables and fruits and 25% everything else. Ever wake up feeling sore and stiff in the morning and loosen up as the day goes on? Your body is processing too much acid in the form of protein. My patients are always amazed at how eating more vegetables and fruits makes them feel better.
2. What you Drink.
In a word, water. Reverse osmosis is better. Caffeinated drinks dehydrate the body, so less is better. Fruit and vegetable juices are good in moderation, but water, water, water is best.
3. What you and How you Breathe.
Get some fresh air. Also try this: put one hand on your chest and the other on your belly. Now, take a deep breath. Which hand moved most? The belly hand should move more. Practice conscious belly-breathing daily. It can relax and re-energize you.
4. How you Exercise.
Exercising 20 minutes three times a week is a great start. Get a pedometer from you local sporting goods store and shoot for 10,000 steps per day.
5. How you Sleep.
Sleep at least 5 continuous hours a day. This is when your body repairs and reboots.
6. What you Think – The Most Important Essential.
You can do the previous five correctly and still have poor health if you neglect this essential. Your body responds to your thoughts, beliefs and memory. Got a grudge? It is hurting you more than the other person, guaranteed. What you think about, you bring about. Positive thoughts recharge the body. Change your thoughts to more positive ones and see your health improve! Cell biologist Bruce Lipton, PhD states in his groundbreaking book “The Biology of Belief” that the cells of the body react not only to chemical influences, but energetic ones as well. Energetic influences, in the form of thoughts, have a profound effect on health at the cellular level. So, mind your thoughts. Are they life-enhancing or disease-producing?
